The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency raided a hangar in Subang linked to a 521 kg drug seizure in Laos.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) today raided a hangar at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, believed to be linked to the seizure of 521 kilogrammes (kg) of drugs in Laos last week.

Port Klang AKPS Commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the special operation was conducted jointly with the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), AKPS, Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD), Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad Auxiliary Police (AVSEC) and Special Branch Travel Control Officers (TCO).

“I can confirm that there was a raid and arrests. The operation was conducted jointly... we had been planning it since yesterday, and the operation began at noon today and has since been completed,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

Four individuals were reportedly arrested while preparing for a flight and were handed over to the Bukit Aman JSJN for further investigation.

However, Nik Ezanee declined to disclose details of the operation or the identities of the suspects, leaving it to the Bukit Aman JSJN to provide further information on the arrests.

On October 1, Laos police seized 521kg of crystal methamphetamine from a private Learjet that had arrived from Subang.

Following the seizure, 13 individuals, including a Malaysian, Singaporean and Filipino, were detained by the Laotian authorities to assist investigations into the cross-border drug trafficking case. — Bernama
