StarHub will acquire MyRepublic's mobile business in Singapore, the telco said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 8).

MyRepublic's mobile customers will continue to enjoy their existing services without disruption, supported by StarHub's mobile network.

The transaction builds on the existing relationship between the two companies, with MyRepublic Mobile customers already progressively being migrated onto StarHub's network.

MyRepublic's mobile business attained a net profit of $2.4 million for the 12 months ended June 30, with about 85,000 active subscribers.

The transaction is expected to be completed by April 30, 2027, according to The Straits Times.

Nikhil Eapen, StarHub's chief executive officer, said that the acquisition completes full ownership of MyRepublic across both broadband and mobile.

"With ongoing consolidation, we are bringing greater scale to invest more effectively in the networks, resilience and innovation that Singapore will increasingly depend on," Eapen added.

Matt Williams, StarHub's chief executive officer-designate, said the acquisition strengthens StarHub's multi-brand strategy, allowing it to serve different customer segments while giving more users access to the strength of its network.

"With our 5G+ network, we are continuing to invest in faster speeds, stronger indoor coverage and a better overall mobile experience, while building the scale needed to serve customers more effectively," he added.

Vaughan Baker, MyRepublic's group chief executive officer, said: "For MyRepublic Mobile customers, we deeply appreciate your support and loyalty over the years and nothing changes for you."

In addition to the transaction value, StarHub will pay MyRepublic an additional $1 million once 25,000 subscribers have migrated to StarHub's network, reported The Straits Times.

A further $1 million bonus will reportedly be paid if the number of migrated subscribers reaches 50,000 by March 14, 2027.
