If you are wondering if the skyline from your window looks clearer today, you are not wrong.
Air quality in Singapore improved overnight, with a 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) reading of 87 recorded in the central region at 10am on Sunday (Sept 6) morning.
Meanwhile, air quality in the four other regions has also maintained in the moderate range.
The central region has recorded two consecutive days of air quality in the unhealthy range — 101 to 200 — since Friday.
That prompted the National Environment Agency (NEA) to begin providing daily updates .
In its forecast on Saturday evening , NEA noted that most parts of the surrounding region remained dry.
Its satellite imaging also indicated that moderate to dense smoke plumes over the southern and central parts of Sumatra and various parts of Kalimantan are continuing to drift towards Singapore.
This, coupled with expected dry conditions over Singapore and the region in the coming days, and the prevailing south-easterly or southerly winds, means the city state may continue to be affected by transboundary haze should the fires remain active, the agency stated.
It also forecast the 24-hour PSI for Singapore to be in the higher end of the moderate to the lower end of the unhealthy range.
Checks on the NEA's haze microsite on Sunday morning at 9am show that 1-hour PM2.5 for all regions are in the normal band.
This means that members of the public can continue with normal activities.
However, they should note that the health impact of haze is dependent on one's health status, the PSI level, and the length and intensity of outdoor activity.
Members of the public can refer to the following guide to plan their immediate or next-day outdoor activities.
