Woodlands Checkpoint sees heavy departure traffic on Sept 6, tailback from Malaysia

Motorists driving into Malaysia are advised that there is currently heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a social media post at 9.42am that the situation is due to traffic tailback from Malaysia.

Checks on the Land Transport Authority's traffic cameras at 11am show that the jam stretches along nearly the entire Causeway.

However, traffic conditions along Woodlands Crossing and Woodlands Flyover remain smooth.

ICA advised travellers to expect delays and to check traffic conditions before embarking on their journey.

Heavy traffic expected during Sept school holidays

On Aug 31, ICA had said that heavy traffic is expected at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the September school holidays from Sept 4 to Sept 14.

In its advisory then, the authority highlighted that security checks have been stepped up at all checkpoints since Feb 28 — when US and Israel struck Iran — due to the heightened global security environment.

"Travellers should therefore expect longer waiting time during peak travel periods," it said.

ICA建议旅客做好延误准备，并在出发前查看交通状况。

预计九月学校假期期间交通拥堵

8月31日，移民与关卡局表示，9月4日至9月14日学校假期期间，兀兰关卡和图阿斯关卡预计都会出现交通拥堵。

该机构当时在其公告中强调，由于全球安全环境加剧，自 2 月 28 日美国和以色列袭击伊朗以来，所有检查站的安全检查都已加强。

“因此，旅客在出行高峰期应做好等待时间延长的准备。”声明中写道。
