KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — A number of AirAsia flights to and from Jakarta have been cancelled or rescheduled following the continued eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia’s Sunda Strait, which has generated extensive volcanic ash clouds.

In a statement today, AirAsia said volcanic ash posed a significant threat to aircraft safety, prompting operational adjustments to selected services whose flight paths may be affected.

“AirAsia has notified all affected guests on their flight status and recovery options,” the airline said, adding that it was working to ensure passengers could resume their journeys safely on the next available flight.

The situation remains fluid, and AirAsia urged passengers travelling to and from the affected destinations to check their latest flight status before travelling.
