A 38-year-old worker died after a tree-felling accident at a private property in Katong on Tuesday (Oct 13).

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police said they were alerted to a work-related incident at Cranborne Road at about 2.35pm that day.

The man was taken unconscious to the hospital, where he subsequently died.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play. Investigations are ongoing.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told AsiaOne that they also received a call at 2.35pm, where one person was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said the worker was carrying out tree-felling works when the tree toppled at its base, causing him to fall along with it, reported The Straits Times.

The worker was employed by Soh & Tan Enterprises, MOM said.

The company has been instructed to cease all tree-felling activities involving tree climbing pending investigations.

AsiaOne has reached out to MOM for more information.
