Thailand has scored another historic beauty pageant triumph after 23-year-old Thai-British Saffron Maya Snook seized the Miss Global 2026 crown in Nonthaburi on Sunday. But the stunning winner is no ordinary beauty queen. Educated at Bangkok’s prestigious Shrewsbury International School, she graduated from Britain’s University of Sussex with first-class honours. She also won an academic award for research into artificial intelligence and Thailand’s consumer goods industry. Meanwhile, the former university football captain worked with Unilever Thailand and featured in major advertising campaigns. Snook beat international rivals on Sunday to claim Thailand’s first Miss Global title, following the country’s historic Miss World victory in 2025.

Thailand has crowned a new international beauty queen after 23-year-old Saffron Maya Snook stormed to victory at Miss Global 2026. The Thai-British beauty made history on Sunday night, becoming the first Thai woman to capture the international title.

However, behind the glamorous victory lies an extraordinary academic, sporting and professional record. Snook attended one of Bangkok’s prestigious British international schools before graduating from a leading British university with first-class honours.

She also won an academic award for research into artificial intelligence and Thailand’s consumer goods industry. Furthermore, the former university football captain worked in corporate marketing and commercial modelling before winning the crown.

Thai-British Saffron Maya Snook defeats international rivals to claim Thailand’s first Miss Global crown

The historic victory came on Sunday, October 11, at MCC Hall in The Mall Lifestore Ngamwongwan, Nonthaburi province. The international final took place on the fourth floor of the shopping complex, just outside Bangkok.

Snook emerged victorious after nearly two weeks of competition involving contestants from across the world. The programme began on September 29, culminating in Sunday’s final, scheduled to begin at 6 pm.

Thailand’s representative claimed the crown in a competition listing 81 contestants. However, the published figure does not necessarily represent the number who appeared in the final. Snook defeated Kelly Kirstein of the United States, who finished as first runner-up.

Meanwhile, Bianca Nicole Miranda of Puerto Rico secured second runner-up. Jayvee Lyn Lorejo of the Philippines finished third runner-up, while Myo Ma Ma of Burma claimed fourth runner-up.

The result delivered Thailand’s first Miss Global crown and another international breakthrough for its beauty pageant industry. Significantly, Snook succeeded Vietnam’s Nguyễn Đình Như Vân, who won the Miss Global 2025 title. Consequently, the international crown remained in Southeast Asia for a second consecutive year. Thailand’s victory also followed another historic success at Miss World in May 2025.

Thailand celebrates another pageant first after Suchata Chuangsri’s historic Miss World victory in India

On that occasion, Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri became the first Thai woman to win Miss World. The competition took place in Hyderabad, India, where Chuangsri secured the prestigious international title.

However, Miss World and Miss Global operate as separate organisations with different competitions and titleholders. Snook’s victory therefore represents another distinct national first, achieved approximately seventeen months after Thailand’s Miss World triumph.

For Snook, Sunday’s result completed a remarkable year in beauty pageantry. Earlier in 2026, she won Miss Global Thailand, the national competition selecting the country’s international representative.

That victory secured her place in the Miss Global 2026 final. Subsequently, she entered the international contest against representatives from countries and territories across several regions. Her victory in Nonthaburi added the international crown to the national title she had already secured.

The newly crowned winner is known by the nickname Saff. Her full name is Saffron Maya Snook, while her Thai name is ซาฟฟรอน มายา สนูค. She is 23 years old, stands 171 centimetres tall and has a Thai-British background. Yet her academic qualifications and professional experience provide a far more substantial story than her success on stage.

From Shrewsbury in Bangkok to first-class honours at Sussex, Snook builds an exceptional academic record

Snook attended Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, one of Thailand’s established British international schools. She graduated with the Class of 2020 before continuing her education in the United Kingdom.

The institution follows the British educational system and prepares students for universities in Britain and other countries. Notably, Shrewsbury has publicly recognised Snook’s achievements through an alumni profile, acknowledging her connection with the school.

Her education in Bangkok was followed by three years of university study in England. Snook enrolled at the University of Sussex, a British university located near Brighton on England’s south coast. There, she completed a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management with Psychology. She graduated with first-class honours, the highest undergraduate honours classification awarded under the British university system.

However, the degree classification was not her only academic distinction. Snook also received the Best Thesis in Marketing and Management Course award for research involving artificial intelligence.

Her work examined AI and its impact on marketing management within Thailand’s fast-moving consumer goods industry. The sector includes products distributed through supermarkets, convenience stores and other retail businesses.

Award-winning research into artificial intelligence leads Snook towards a career in corporate marketing

Crucially, her research focused on technology and commercial practices directly relevant to Thailand’s consumer economy.

Artificial intelligence has become increasingly important in advertising, consumer research, brand management and commercial decision-making. Snook’s thesis examined its implications for marketing management within Thailand’s consumer goods sector. Moreover, the academic award established a separate achievement before her emergence as an international beauty pageant winner.

Her university record therefore included both first-class honours and recognition for specialist research into AI. The research also connected directly with the professional field she subsequently entered. Following her studies, Snook developed experience in marketing and branding, including work associated with major commercial businesses.

Reports identify professional experience with Unilever Thailand, part of one of the world’s largest multinational consumer goods companies. Unilever operates across international markets, including Thailand, with products covering personal care, household goods and other consumer categories. In addition, Snook gained experience with a branding agency, extending her involvement in commercial marketing.

Unilever experience and major advertising campaigns take Snook from marketing into commercial modelling

Both engagements were consistent with her university qualifications and research into marketing management. Nevertheless, published reports have not established her precise job titles, employment dates or the length of each engagement.

Her professional background included corporate marketing and branding before she secured the international crown. This experience also connected with her subsequent involvement in commercial modelling and advertising.

On another front, Snook pursued opportunities in Thailand’s fashion and entertainment industries. She entered auditions for the sixth season of The Face Thailand, a competitive television programme focused on modelling. During the selection process, she reached the final 24 contestants. Although she did not win the programme, her progress established her involvement in Thailand’s competitive modelling industry.

The Face Thailand has provided exposure for aspiring models seeking careers in advertising, fashion and entertainment. Subsequently, Snook appeared in commercial campaigns involving internationally recognised consumer brands. These included 7-Up Thailand, associated with the international soft-drink brand. She also appeared in advertising for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip7 smartphone, marketed in 2025 as part of its foldable range.

University football captain adds sporting success to Snook’s academic and professional achievements

As a result, her commercial modelling experience extended across consumer beverages and electronic products. The advertising appearances added another professional dimension to her background. Yet modelling was not her only pursuit outside academic study and marketing. During her university years in Britain, Snook also played competitive football and assumed a leadership role.

Indeed, she captained the University of Sussex women’s football team while completing her degree. The position involved leading the university side and representing fellow students in competitive sport. Her sporting responsibilities ran alongside her academic studies and research commitments. By the time she entered international pageantry, Snook had accumulated experience across several demanding fields.

These included university football, academic research, corporate marketing, branding, commercial advertising and modelling.

Her achievements therefore extended beyond the conventional activities associated with beauty competitions. At 23, she entered the Miss Global final with first-class academic qualifications and professional experience already behind her.

Meanwhile, preparations for Miss Global 2026 were underway in Thailand under the organisation of TPN Global. The company, led by prominent pageant organiser Piyaporn “Mae Pui” Sankosik, held the local rights to stage the event. TPN Global brought the international competition to Thailand, with activities extending beyond the final venue in Nonthaburi.

Miss Global contestants tour Thailand before Nonthaburi final featuring southern Thai cultural traditions

The programme opened on September 29 and continued until October 11. During that period, contestants participated in official ceremonies, interviews, preliminary judging and organised public appearances.

The schedule also included cultural presentations and activities in Ratchaburi province. Furthermore, contestants displayed national costumes reflecting the traditions and cultural identities of their respective countries.

The competition culminated in Sunday’s final at MCC Hall, inside The Mall Lifestore Ngamwongwan. Thailand’s representative used the national costume presentation to showcase a design inspired by southern Thai performing arts. Snook’s costume drew on Nora, a traditional performance associated with southern Thailand, alongside elements of Thai literature.

The design formed part of the competition’s cultural programme, which featured national costumes from participating countries. It also provided an opportunity for the Thai contestant to represent her country’s traditions before the international judging panel. Separately, Snook secured another distinction during the event through recognition from fellow contestants.

Snook wins Sisterhood Award as cultural organisations and commercial sponsors back Miss Global 2026

Thai media reported that she won the Sisterhood Award, determined through votes cast by other participants. The distinction was separate from the overall Miss Global crown.

Consequently, it added another award to her record before her international victory was confirmed. Her eventual triumph therefore followed recognition both from fellow contestants and through the competition’s final results.

The event attracted commercial sponsorship and support from organisations associated with Thai culture and tourism. The official Miss Global website identified property developer AssetWise among its commercial supporters. Amazing Thailand was also listed, alongside several Thai cultural organisations. These included the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Cultural Promotion and the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture.

Their involvement formed part of the commercial and institutional backing for the international competition. In parallel, AssetWise had already provided Snook with a significant benefit following her national title victory.

In April 2026, the property developer congratulated her on winning Miss Global Thailand. The company subsequently awarded her complimentary accommodation for one year at Modiz Sukhumvit 50 in Bangkok.

Bangkok accommodation deal supports Snook as Miss Global’s separate international competition takes shape

The residential development is located near the On Nut BTS station. The arrangement provided accommodation during her preparations for the international final. However, the benefit covered one year’s residence rather than ownership of a condominium.

The sponsorship therefore represented practical support connected with her participation in Miss Global 2026.

Miss Global operates as an independent international beauty pageant organisation. Its stated philosophy is “Empower Women. Embrace Cultures. Embody the Beauty Within.” The organisation combines conventional pageant judging with activities involving cultural exchange and personal development. It also operates through national representatives, international competitions and successive titleholders.

Importantly, Miss Global should not be confused with Miss Universe, Miss World or Miss International. Those competitions are operated separately and have different histories, organisers and international titles.

Miss Universe and Miss World also have longer-established global profiles. Accordingly, Snook’s achievement is specifically Thailand’s first victory in the Miss Global international competition.

Thailand’s victory keeps Miss Global crown in Southeast Asia after Vietnam’s success the previous year

Nevertheless, the 2026 event brought representatives from numerous countries and territories to Thailand. The final results reflected participation from several regions, with the United States and Puerto Rico securing the first two runner-up positions. Meanwhile, the Philippines and Burma completed the remaining places among the leading five contestants.

Thailand secured the crown, succeeding Vietnam’s 2025 winner. The result also strengthened Thailand’s recent record of international beauty pageant victories. In May 2025, Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri secured the Miss World title in Hyderabad, India. That victory was a national first in the long-established competition.

Now, Snook has delivered another first by winning Miss Global on Thai soil, approximately seventeen months later. Both victories involved Thai representatives defeating international contestants to secure titles their country had never previously won. However, the competitions remain distinct, with separate selection processes and organising bodies.

For Thailand’s pageant industry, hosting Miss Global also involved an extensive programme of international activities. Contestants attended official functions, interviews and cultural presentations during their stay. The programme included events in Ratchaburi and the final in Nonthaburi. Bangkok also featured in the wider organisation and commercial arrangements surrounding the competition.

Miss Global brings international contestants to Thailand, but the event’s economic returns remain unknown

Furthermore, the event involved private-sector sponsorship and support from Thai tourism and cultural organisations. However, no independently established estimate has been provided for the competition’s overall economic impact. The scale of commercial returns for sponsors and organisers has likewise not been confirmed. Nevertheless, the event brought international contestants, organisers and commercial partners together in Thailand over nearly two weeks.

Meanwhile, public information concerning Snook’s family and early childhood remains limited. Her Thai-British background and education in Thailand and Britain are established.

However, reliable reports have not identified her parents, their occupations or her precise birthplace. Nor has it been confirmed whether she spent her entire childhood in Thailand or divided her time between countries.

Her publicly identified Instagram account is @saffronesta. In contrast, considerably more information is available about her education, professional experience and sporting achievements. Her academic record begins with her graduation from Shrewsbury International School Bangkok in 2020. She subsequently completed her degree at the University of Sussex with first-class honours.

First-class graduate and former football captain completes historic Miss Global victory on Thai soil

Additionally, she received recognition for research into artificial intelligence and marketing management in Thailand. Her professional experience included work with Unilever Thailand and a branding agency.

She also pursued commercial modelling, appearing in advertising campaigns associated with 7-Up Thailand and Samsung. In entertainment, she reached the final 24 during auditions for The Face Thailand’s sixth season.

Her sporting background included captaining the University of Sussex women’s football team. These achievements preceded her entry into the Miss Global international competition. Earlier this year, she won the national title that secured her place in the international final. Subsequently, she joined contestants from around the world for the competition staged in Thailand.

During the event, she presented a national costume inspired by southern Thai traditions. She also secured the Sisterhood Award through votes from fellow contestants. Then, on Sunday night, the competition reached its conclusion at MCC Hall in Nonthaburi. Snook defeated the American and Puerto Rican representatives who finished immediately behind her, with the Philippines and Burma completing the leading five.

As a result, the 23-year-old Thai-British graduate became the first Thai woman to win Miss Global. The crown followed her earlier Miss Global Thailand victory and completed a successful year in international pageantry.

Her achievement also brought attention to an academic record involving first-class honours and award-winning research into artificial intelligence.

Alongside those qualifications stood professional experience in marketing, commercial advertising and modelling. Her sporting achievements added another distinction through her captaincy of a British university women’s football team.

Thailand now holds the Miss Global title following Sunday’s victory on home soil. For Saffron Maya Snook, the international crown adds another major achievement to a record spanning academic study, business, modelling and competitive sport.
