Duo arrested after drugs, weapons found in car in Toa Payoh

SINGAPORE - A man and a woman were arrested after police officers found items like weapons, suspected drugs and contraband cigarettes in a car in Toa Payoh on the night of Sept 4.

In a media reply , the police said their officers were patrolling at Block 4 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh at about 11.50pm that night when they saw a stationary car.

Karambit knives, suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, duty-unpaid cigarettes and vaporisers were found in the car during police checks, and seized.

A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested for unauthorised possession of weapons and suspected drug-related offences, said the police.

The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, while the customs-related offence has been referred to Singapore Customs. The vaporiser-related offence has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority.

The police said investigations are ongoing.

An eyewitness told Chinese-language newspaper Shin Min Daily News that he was delivering food when he noticed a police car on patrol, which then pulled up beside the car.

新加坡——9月4日晚，警方在大巴窑一辆汽车内发现武器、疑似毒品和走私香烟等物品后，逮捕了一男一女。

警方在回复媒体时表示，当晚约 11 点 50 分，警员在 Toa Payoh 7 巷 4 座巡逻时，发现一辆停着的汽车。

警方在检查车辆时，发现了卡拉姆刀、疑似毒品、吸毒用具、未缴税香烟和电子烟，并予以没收。

警方称，一名31岁男子和一名34岁女子因非法持有武器和涉嫌毒品犯罪被捕。

涉嫌毒品犯罪案件已移交中央肃毒局，涉海关犯罪案件已移交新加坡海关，涉电子烟犯罪案件已移交卫生科学局。

警方表示调查仍在进行中。

一名目击者告诉中文报纸《新明日报》，他当时正在送外卖，突然注意到一辆巡逻的警车停在了他的车旁边。
