Chinese actor and singer Wang Yibo, renowned for his role in "The Untamed," is in Kuala Lumpur to prepare for his first overseas competition as a professional racing driver at the 2026 China GT Championship.

During his stay, he has been indulging in local Malaysian cuisine, enjoying dishes like bak kut teh and durian, much to the delight of fans on social media.

While focusing on his racing career, Wang has been practicing at the Sepang International Circuit to familiarize himself with the track.

Known for his entertainment career with Uniq and various acting roles, Wang is embracing motorsport as he continues to navigate dual passions.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — Chinese heartthrob Wang Yibo appears to have developed quite an appetite for Malaysian food as he gears up for his first overseas competition as a professional racing driver.

The 29-year-old actor and singer, best known for his starring role in the hit Chinese drama The Untamed , has been spotted tucking into local favourites including bak kut teh and durian during his stay in Kuala Lumpur.

And while he may be in Malaysia for some serious business on the racetrack, the star is clearly making time for a little culinary adventure.

Wang was spotted enjoying a claypot bak kut teh meal with members of his racing team at a restaurant in Pudu on Wednesday.

Photos of the outing circulated on Chinese social media platform Weibo, with fans delighted to see the usually polished celebrity enjoying a casual meal at a local eatery.

One Weibo user shared photos of Wang dining with his UNO Racing teammates at the restaurant, while another remarked on how relaxed he appeared as he enjoyed the Malaysian speciality.

But the evening’s food adventure did not end there.

Later that night, Wang was spotted at Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang, where he sampled another Malaysian favourite — durian.

Fans were quick to share sightings of the actor on Weibo, with some identifying the durian stop as Duriyen Garden in the popular tourist district.

The back-to-back food outings prompted amused reactions online, with one Weibo user joking that Wang was turning his Malaysian visit into a food broadcast as he worked his way through bak kut teh and durian.

Of course, it has not been all eating and sightseeing for the star.

Wang is in Malaysia preparing for the 2026 China GT Championship season finale, scheduled to take place at the Sepang International Circuit from November 6 to 8.

The upcoming event will mark his first overseas competition as a professional racing driver, another milestone in his growing motorsport career.

He has already been putting in practice sessions at Sepang, familiarising himself with the circuit ahead of the competition.

On Tuesday (October 13), Wang shared photographs of his training session on Weibo, showing himself both in the garage and behind the wheel in full racing gear.

He also revealed that he was getting accustomed to Sepang’s two long straights as he continued preparations for the race.

Wang’s passion for motorsport is hardly a new development.

He made his professional motorcycle racing debut at the Michelin GPGP Grand Prix in Beijing in 2019 before making the switch to GT car racing in 2024.

Away from the circuit, Wang first made his name in entertainment as a member of South Korean-Chinese boy band Uniq, which debuted in 2014.

He made his film debut in MBA Partners in 2016 before gaining widespread recognition through television dramas including The Untamed (2019) and Legend of Fei (2020), as well as the 2023 film Hidden Blade .

The multi-hyphenate star has since been devoting more time to motorsport, with his upcoming Sepang appearance giving Malaysian fans a chance to see him in a very different role.

And judging by his latest KL adventures, he is getting a proper taste of Malaysia before putting the pedal to the metal.
