The Selangor Disaster Management Committee will distribute face masks to vulnerable groups in areas with high Air Pollutant Index (API) readings.

The public, especially high-risk groups, are advised to reduce outdoor activities and stay informed about local API readings when the air quality is unhealthy.

The state government will monitor the haze situation, using data from relevant agencies to take necessary public health actions while advising against activities that can worsen air quality.

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The Selangor Disaster Management Committee is ready to distribute face masks to the public and civil servants to cope with the ongoing haze situation.

State Public Health and Environment Committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the distribution would focus on areas recording the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in Selangor, particularly targeting vulnerable groups.

“This action serves as an additional protective measure against the impact of current haze exposure,” she said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, she advised the public, especially high-risk groups such as senior citizens and individuals with heart or respiratory conditions, to limit physical and outdoor activities when API readings reach unhealthy levels.

“The public is also advised to reduce strenuous outdoor activities and remain indoors if air quality is unhealthy, while staying updated on the latest API readings in their respective areas,” she added.

Jamaliah said the state government would continue to monitor the situation closely and take necessary measures to safeguard public health, safety and well-being.

“The state government will keep obtaining technical data and updates from relevant agencies, including the Department of Environment and the Malaysian Meteorological Department, to help determine appropriate action should air quality deteriorate further.

“The public is also urged not to engage in activities that could worsen air quality and to comply with advisories and directives issued by the authorities,” she added.

Six areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy API readings as at 4 pm today, namely Johan Setia (181), Shah Alam (168), Kuala Selangor (158), Petaling Jaya (157), Klang (156) and Banting (155). — Bernama

州政府将监测雾霾情况，利用相关机构的数据采取必要的公共卫生措施，同时建议民众避免可能恶化空气质量的活动。

莎阿南，9月6日讯——雪兰莪州灾害管理委员会已做好准备，向公众和公务员分发口罩，以应对持续的雾霾情况。

州公共卫生与环境委员会主席贾玛莉亚·贾马鲁丁表示，分发物资将重点放在雪兰莪州空气污染指数（API）读数最高的地区，尤其针对弱势群体。

“此举旨在为应对当前雾霾的影响提供额外的保护措施，”她在今天的一份声明中表示。

与此同时，她建议公众，特别是老年人和患有心脏或呼吸系统疾病等高风险群体，在 API 读数达到不健康水平时，限制体育活动和户外活动。

她补充说：“建议公众减少剧烈的户外活动，如果空气质量不佳，则待在室内，同时密切关注各自地区的最新空气质量指数（API）读数。”

贾玛利亚表示，州政府将继续密切关注局势，并采取必要措施保障公众健康、安全和福祉。
