SEREMBAN, Oct 16 — A lorry carrying dry food products lost control and crashed into a Road Transport Department (JPJ) car and another lorry during a roadside inspection, killing a JPJ officer and injuring three others on the North-South Expressway near Senawang, police said today.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the two JPJ personnel had been inspecting a motoloader carrying a cabin load on the emergency lane at Kilometre 256.1 northbound when the lorry approached from behind at about 10.30pm yesterday.

“However, the lorry lost control and failed to avoid the vehicles, crashing into the rear of the JPJ car and the motoloader,” he said in a statement.

The 42-year-old JPJ officer suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 32-year-old colleague sustained serious head injuries and injuries to several parts of his body and was receiving treatment at Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban Hospital.

The two lorry drivers, aged 44 and 48, also suffered injuries to their legs and bodies and were receiving treatment at the hospital’s emergency department.

Alzafny said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged anyone with information about the crash to contact investigating officer Inspector Syakinah Ahmad at 06-6033394 or visit the nearest police station to assist with investigations.
