Major fuel companies in Singapore have all raised fuel prices this week, with Chinese state-owned SPC being the last to do so on Friday (Oct 16) morning.

In a price board update posted at 11.30am, SPC announced a 3-cent increase to its posted prices for 92-, 95-, 98-octane petrol and diesel.

The increase almost mirrors price hikes posted by Caltex and Shell on Monday , Esso on Tuesday , and Sinopec on Thursday , except that the quartet did not raise the price of diesel.

SPC, however, was also the only major fuel company here to have diesel priced below $4 per litre prior to its latest hike.

The PetroChina-owned company's adjustment comes about two weeks after its last move on Oct 2 , when the price of its 92-octane petrol was raised by 15 cents and its prices for 95- and 98-octane petrol were raised by 5 cents each.

Fuel rates in Singapore rose again on Sept 14 after over two months of unchanged prices.

For every alternate week since, major fuel companies here have raised prices amid global oil supply volatility and rising crude oil prices.

Following the latest round of price adjustments among major fuel companies, the price of the more popular 95-octane petrol now ranges from $3.56 at SPC to $3.57 at Caltex, Esso, Shell and Sinopec.

Meanwhile, Cnergy and Smart Energy are still offering the petrol grade at $2.69 and $2.62 respectively.

Prices are correct as at 8pm on Oct 16. All prices are before discounts.

Oil prices steadied on Friday and were heading for weekly gains on uncertainty over Middle East supplies and a larger-than-expected draw from US crude ‌stockpiles, while European diesel margins dropped after an International Energy Agency (IEA) move to release more of the fuel.

At 7.07pm (Singapore time), Brent crude futures were at US$106.28 a barrel.

"The IEA's pledge to release the remaining 100 million barrels under its March agreement, together with reports that the US is considering easing sanctions on some dark fleet tankers, may be weighing slightly on sentiment," Hansen was reported by Reuters as saying.

The release is unlikely to ease diesel supply tightness, he added.
