JAKARTA (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti): Simultaneously with the massive eruption of Anak Krakatau in Indonesia, Semeru volcano on the island of Java erupted as well, sending a column of ash of about one kilometre (0.6 miles) above its summit, the Geological Agency of the country's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said on Sunday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Semeru erupted on Sunday at 7.51 am local time (00:51 GMT).
