Bersama suspends Nik Nazmi from party activities for three months from Oct 20 after Jais incident

Parti Bersama Malaysia has suspended Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad from all official activities for three months, starting October 20.

The suspension followed his admission of involvement in an incident with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department.

The decision aims to preserve the party's integrity, while acknowledging Nik Nazmi's past contributions and commitment.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Parti Bersama Malaysia has suspended Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad from all official party activities for three months, effective October 20.

The party said the decision followed his public admission regarding his involvement in an incident with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) in Petaling Jaya on October 15.

In his earlier statement, Nik Nazmi confirmed he was the man caught with a woman, who is not his muhrim (a legally permissible close relative), in an enclosed space during the raid, and publicly apologised to his wife, family and party members.

“Bersama views this development seriously and takes the position that every issue involving the party’s leadership and members must be addressed appropriately to preserve the party’s integrity, credibility and public confidence,” Syukri Razab said in a statement on behalf of the party.

The suspension will run until January 19, 2027.

The party stated that the decision was necessary and reasonable, without denying Nik Nazmi’s contributions and commitment to Bersama since the party was relaunched in May 2026.

该党表示，这一决定是因为他公开承认自己参与了 10 月 15 日在八打灵再也发生的与雪兰莪伊斯兰宗教局 (Jais) 的事件。

尼克·纳兹米在早前的声明中证实，他就是突袭行动中被发现与一名女子（并非他的合法近亲）在封闭空间内的人，并公开向他的妻子、家人和党员道歉。

“土著团结党严肃对待这一事态发展，并认为所有涉及党领导层和成员的问题都必须得到妥善处理，以维护党的诚信、信誉和公众信任，”舒克里·拉扎布代表该党发表声明说。

暂停期限将持续到 2027 年 1 月 19 日。

该党表示，这一决定是必要且合理的，并没有否认尼克·纳兹米自2026年5月该党重新成立以来对团结党的贡献和承诺。
