DeepSeek released an update of its artificial intelligence (AI) model that it says is faster and leaner, ramping up the Chinese company’s challenge to Silicon Valley rivals Anthropic PBC and OpenAI as well as domestic competitors like Moonshot Kimi and Z.ai.
The firm unveiled the V4.1-Flash-1017 late Saturday (Oct 17) afternoon with a series of posts on X saying the update had "stronger benchmark performance, faster task completion, and shorter outputs than the previous version.” The model is live across the web, on DeepSeek’s app and its platform for developers.
