KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has denied appointing any third party to handle its recruitment following the emergence of a TikTok account, “kerjaya.ktmb”, which misuses the company’s name and logo to offer fake jobs.

In a statement today, KTMB said the account also attempted to obtain users’ personal information and advised the public to remain vigilant and not disclose personal information through unverified channels.

“KTMB wants to stress that it has not appointed any third party or created a dedicated social media account to handle recruitment, as claimed by the account,” it said.

The rail operator said it was conducting further investigations into the misuse of KTMB’s name and logo, as well as the dissemination of the fake job offers.

“KTMB will not hesitate to take legal action against any party found to be involved in fraud, impersonation, misuse of corporate identity or any other unlawful acts,” it said.

Members of the public are advised to refer to KTMB’s official website at www.ktmb.com.my and its official social media channels for information on career opportunities, recruitment and official announcements.

KTMB also stressed that it viewed seriously the misuse of its name, logo and corporate identity, which could mislead the public and compromise the security of their personal information.

The company also expressed its appreciation to social media account owner Syed Al Hafiz for his concern and initiative in sharing information and alerting the public to the scam attempt.

Bernama checks on the TikTok account found that it was still accessible, with its latest post published about 12 hours before the checks were conducted. — Bernama
