N95 masks to be progressively made available at all major supermarkets: MOH

Amid increased demand for N95 masks or their equivalent , the Ministry of Health (MOH) has allayed concerns from members of the public about the availability of these masks.

In its response to queries from the media, the ministry stated that its checks have shown that retailers and retail pharmacies have sufficient supplies in their warehouses.

The ministry added that it also maintains a stockpile of N95 masks (or equivalent) and has released the stockpile to support retailers to manage the increased demand.

Meanwhile, the public can purchase N5 masks from all NTUC FairPrice outlets, as well as pharmacies such as Guardian, Unity and Watsons.

"Some stores may temporarily run low on supplies while they restock their stores," MOH added.

It is also working with major supermarket chains — Cold Storage, Giant and Sheng Siong — to progressively make available N95 or equivalent masks for purchase at all their outlets by the end of this week.

Notwithstanding the greater accessibility to retail points, the ministry urged members of the public to purchase N95 or equivalent masks only for their own use.

This is to avoid wastage, it said.
