A woman has been recognised for her vigilance after identifying two suspected repeat shop thieves at Uniqlo's Waterway Point outlet.

In a post shared on Punggol Neighbourhood Police Centre's (NPC) Facebook page on Monday (Oct 19), Catherine, an assistant store manager at the clothing retailer, was praised for her keen observation and memory.

According to the post, Catherine had carefully reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of an earlier shop theft incident and remembered the suspects' facial features and physical descriptions.

This helped her recognise the pair when they returned to the store weeks later, allowing her to take action to detain them and help prevent further offences.

"Catherine demonstrated exceptional vigilance, courage, and keen memory when she recognised two repeated shop theft suspects at the Uniqlo Waterway Point outlet," the post stated.

"Her sharp observation, brave initiative, and strong commitment to crime prevention reflect the highest standards of store security."

Uniqlo said it remains committed to crime prevention through strategic CCTV coverage and continuous staff vigilance to maintain a safe shopping environment.

NPC also expressed its appreciation for its partnership with Uniqlo and said it looked forward to strengthening their collaboration in crime prevention efforts.
