A GrabFood rider shared on social media about an act of kindness he encountered while making a delivery this hazy season.
Facebook user Shawn Lim posted a short video on Sunday (Oct 18) saying how he had just completed a GrabFood delivery to a condominium resident when he was stopped by the customer's son.
The boy handed the rider a pack of N95 masks and said: "Wear it now because it's so hazy."
Lim shared that he "very touched" by the gesture as he had wanted to get some N95 masks for himself.
"This is really thoughtful of them. This is what my customers can do," said Lim in the video.
He also said that delivering food and groceries in the current haze climate has been "brutal", with many food delivery riders in Singapore experiencing sore throats and stinging eyes.
"While platform initiatives and the National Delivery Champions Association (NDCA) are distributing resources, this direct act of care from customers means the world when you are out on the road," Lim wrote in his caption.
He said that such acts show that the community spirit in the nation is "stronger than the pollution".
Lim also shared some haze safety reminders for his fellow delivery riders including switching from regular surgical masks to a properly fitted N95 mask immediately and checking the official National Environment Agency myENV app frequently to monitor PM2.5 levels across different regions before accepting long-distance bookings.
He reminded riders to also make use of air-conditioned rider lounges and water points at nearby shopping centres and transport nodes to recover between trips.
"We are doing our best to get your meals to you safely!" wrote Lim, addressing customers.
