KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has highlighted the need for Cabinet members to look at major policy shifts required to strengthen national resilience in industry and the economy.

He said he had raised the matter with cabinet members earlier today, emphasising that Malaysia has the resources, human capital, discipline, and resilience.

Anwar said he remained optimistic that Malaysia could forge ahead as a great nation through continued efforts by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and collaboration with industry.

He was speaking at the Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2026 at Menara MITI here yesterday.

Also present were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the government played a pivotal role in ensuring stability and confidently crafting economic and national policies.

He cited the New Industrial Master Plan, energy transition, and digital transformation, stressing that policy clarity must be matched by effective execution.

“And in most countries, they can introduce and come up with some impressive plans, but there is no certainty that you are able or you will be able to execute it effectively.

“So the role of not only bureaucracy, but more so the industrial players, is critical,” he added. — Bernama
