Reaping life’s lessons on a joyful farm

A break from city life in northern Chiang Rai, Thailand, might just be what the doctor ordered.

A trip to Rai Ruen Rom Organic Farm in Chiang Rai offered a break from city life and a chance to reconnect with nature, with open fields, a river and starry skies.

Visitors joined farm activities like fabric dyeing and herbal fermentation, and learnt about honeybees, organic methods and simple craft skills from local guides.

The writer reflected on life, relationships and community, after hearing how locals valued strangers with kindness, patience and trust.

SINGAPORE – Recently, I went to a place called “joyful farm”. It was our firm’s yearly trip, and the six of us packed up and took a flight of around three hours to northern Chiang Rai province in Thailand .

Upon arrival, we travelled by minibus to our destination, a village located in Thoeng district . The Thai name of the place is Rai Ruen Rom Organic Farm and it spans 320,000 sq m . That is equivalent to about 45 football pitches.

新加坡——最近，我去了一个叫“快乐农场”的地方。这是我们公司一年一度的旅行，我们六个人收拾行装，乘坐大约三个小时的航班前往泰国北部的清莱府。

抵达后，我们乘坐小巴前往目的地，一个位于通县的村庄。这个地方的泰语名字是Rai Ruen Rom有机农场，占地32万平方米，相当于大约45个足球场。
