警察总监下令刑事调查局立即对努里兹万在羁押期间死亡事件展开调查

IGP Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail ordered an immediate CID investigation into Noorizwan Zulkefly's death in police custody.

The directive follows the discovery of unusual injuries on Noorizwan's body, warranting thorough scrutiny.

Police await the full post-mortem and laboratory reports to determine the cause of death and inform the public.

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 25 — Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail has directed the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct an immediate investigation into the death of Noorizwan Zulkefly, who died while in police custody at the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD).

He said the investigation must be conducted thoroughly following the discovery of several unusual injuries on Noorizwan’s body that warranted further scrutiny.

“I have asked the CID, particularly its director Datuk M. Kumar, to investigate this case as soon as possible and make the findings of the investigation known to the public.

“At the same time, once we receive the post-mortem report from the hospital stating the cause of death, we will issue an official statement on the next course of action,” he told reporters after the 26th convocation ceremony of Spectrum International University College (SIUC) here today.

Mohd Khalid said the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS), which is responsible for investigating deaths in custody classified as sudden death reports, had issued a statement on the case.

However, police were still awaiting the laboratory report to determine the actual cause of Noorizwan’s death, he added.

Earlier, Bukit Aman JIPS director Datuk Aida Abdul Hamid was reported as saying that the post-mortem found no injuries to Noorizwan’s internal organs, with forensic examination identifying only external injuries on his body.

Noorizwan, 42, died on October 1 after reportedly being brought from the Cheras District Police Headquarters to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Cheras the previous day. — Bernama
