KB Kookmin Bank said Monday that 2,091 additional people were found to have had personal information compromised in a hacking incident early this month. The total number affected rose to 2,210, including 119 people confirmed on Oct. 2. The bank said the increase came from a closer examination of data and processes, not another hacking attack.
The newly identified group includes 1,631 customers and 460 company executives and employees.
The bank had previously said information leaked from the 119 initially confirmed cases included names, phone numbers and addresses.
A bank official apologized for not determining the scale of the breach accurately in the early stages and said the bank would work to prevent a recurrence and protect customers.
KB Kookmin Bank was among more than a dozen financial institutions hit by back-to-back hacking cases early this month.
