KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — Malaysian moviegoers will have another IMAX option in the Klang Valley next month, with Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) converting its largest hall at Mid Valley Megamall into an IMAX with Laser cinema.

Hall 18 will be fitted with 4K laser projection technology and a 12-channel sound system, with Godzilla Minus Zero set to be the first film screened there on November 5.

The upgrade adds to GSC’s IMAX expansion in Malaysia, following the opening of its IMAX hall at IOI Mall Damansara on July 16, which launched with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey .

IMAX with Laser uses a 4K RGB laser projection system, designed to deliver sharper images and more accurate colours than conventional projection systems, alongside a specialised sound setup.

The new screen comes as cinemas continue to invest in premium formats to draw audiences seeking a big-screen experience that differs from watching films at home.

Godzilla Minus Zero , the follow-up to 2023’s Godzilla Minus One , opens in Malaysian cinemas on November 5.
