JAKARTA: Thousands of Indonesians protested in Jakarta and other cities on Wednesday (Oct 28) against economic hardship, graft and the government's handling of devastating wildfires emitting a toxic haze that has made thousands ill.

Many demonstrators held up the three-finger salute of rebellion from dystopian franchise "The Hunger Games" and waved posters with angry messages such as: "Hungry? Eat the Rich!" and "If we burn, you burn with us."
