Hajiji: Sabah allocates RM98.06m to empower youth, boost role in policymaking

TUARAN, Oct 29 — The Sabah government is strengthening youth participation in policymaking through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Young Thinkers (Pemikir Muda) initiative and the Sabah Youth Assembly, providing platforms for young people to contribute ideas on the state’s development.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said youths were not only future leaders but also key economic drivers and agents of change in realising the aspirations of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan.

“Youth are a vital asset in determining the direction and future of Sabah. Therefore, the Chief Minister’s Young Thinkers initiative provides a space for Sabah’s youth to be directly involved in the formulation of state development policies.

“Meanwhile, the Sabah Youth Assembly serves as a platform for youth unity and representation, providing a space to discuss issues and the future of the young generation under a new implementation format overseen by the relevant ministry,” he said.

He was speaking at the Tuaran Youth Tamu Carnival here today.

Hajiji said RM98.06 million had been allocated to the state’s Ministry of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy this year to empower young people through various forms of assistance, funding and skills training.

He said the allocation covered human capital development, grants for youth associations, support for the sports sector and assistance for young entrepreneurs through the Sabah Youth Entrepreneur Success Scheme (Syabas).

It also included the Rumah Mesra SMJ initiative, which provides support for young people who have recently started families.

Hajiji added that the state government was strengthening youth skills through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to meet the needs of future industries and nurture a generation capable of creating employment opportunities.

On the Tuaran Youth Tamu Carnival, he said the event highlighted the role of young people as future leaders in society and the state, as well as strategic partners in advancing economic, social and community development.

He said the carnival drew on the traditional tamu concept, which brings together traders, small-scale entrepreneurs, farmers, artists and local communities, while providing young people with opportunities to exchange ideas, showcase their talents, expand their businesses and build collaborative networks.

“When the tamu concept is combined with the energy and creativity of youth, a more dynamic space is created for entrepreneurial, cultural, sporting and wholesome entertainment activities, as well as knowledge-sharing,” he said.

Hajiji expressed hope that the carnival would continue to provide opportunities for young people to promote local products, showcase their artistic and cultural talents, build self-confidence and expand their business and community networks. — Bernama

斗亚兰，10 月 29 日讯——沙巴州政府正通过首席部长青年思想家计划和沙巴青年大会等举措，加强青年参与政策制定，为青年人提供平台，让他们为该州的发展贡献想法。

首席部长拿督斯里哈吉吉诺尔表示，青年不仅是未来的领导者，也是实现沙巴进步再也（SMJ）发展计划愿景的关键经济驱动力和变革推动者。

“青年是决定沙巴发展方向和未来的重要力量。因此，首席部长的青年思想家计划为沙巴青年提供了一个直接参与制定州发展政策的平台。”

“与此同时，沙巴青年大会为青年团结和代表提供了一个平台，在相关部门监督下，以新的实施模式，为讨论青年一代的问题和未来提供了一个空间，”他说。

他今天在此地的图阿兰青年节上发表了讲话。

哈吉吉表示，今年已向该州青年发展、体育进步和创意经济部拨款9806万令吉，通过各种形式的援助、资金和技能培训来增强年轻人的能力。

他表示，拨款涵盖人力资本发展、青年协会补助金、体育部门支持以及通过沙巴青年创业成功计划 (Syabas) 为青年企业家提供援助。
