SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Yonhap) -- Unionized workers at South Korean steelmaker POSCO will vote this week on a tentative wage agreement reached with management, the union said Sunday.

The two sides have held 30 rounds of negotiations since June, while the union staged two partial strikes in September to demand higher wages and bonuses.

Last week, the union said it would launch an "indefinite" strike from Nov. 2 unless the company presented an acceptable wage offer.

On Friday, the union reached a tentative agreement on the company's latest offer, which includes a 2.6 percent increase in base pay, a one-off payment of 6 million won (US$4,500) and improved benefits. Union members are scheduled to vote on the deal on Saturday.

The union had initially demanded a 7.1 percent increase in base pay, a performance bonus equivalent to 600 percent of base pay, 50 company shares per worker and a holiday bonus equivalent to 200 percent of base pay.

In addition to higher wages, the union cited staffing shortages and aging facilities as factors that could heighten the risk of workplace accidents.

Management's previous offer included a 2.5 percent increase in base pay and a one-off payment of 5 million won.

首尔，11月1日（韩联社）——韩国钢铁制造商浦项钢铁的工会周日表示，工会成员将于本周就与管理层达成的临时工资协议进行投票。

自 6 月以来，双方已进行了 30 轮谈判，而工会在 9 月组织了两次部分罢工，要求提高工资和奖金。

上周，工会表示，除非公司提出可接受的工资方案，否则将从11月2日起发起“无限期”罢工。

周五，工会就公司最新提出的方案达成初步协议，其中包括基本工资上涨2.6%，一次性支付600万韩元（约合4500美元），以及改善福利待遇。工会成员将于周六对该协议进行投票表决。

工会最初要求基本工资增长 7.1%，绩效奖金相当于基本工资的 600%，每位工人 50 股公司股份，以及节日奖金相当于基本工资的 200%。

除了工资上涨之外，工会还指出人员短缺和设施老化也是可能增加工作场所事故风险的因素。

管理层之前的提议包括基本工资增长 2.5% 和一次性支付 500 万韩元。
