Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on LDP, Proton Saga driver flees

A man in his 40s died after being hit by a Proton Saga in a hit-and-run on the LDP towards Puchong.

Petaling Jaya police reported the incident at about 5.40am, finding the victim was struck at 4.34am.

Police seek witnesses to assist with the investigation under the Road Transport Act 1987.

PETALING JAYA, Sept 8 — A local man in his 40s was killed after being hit by a Proton Saga in a hit-and-run incident at Kilometer 0.8 of the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) towards Puchong early yesterday morning.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said police received information about the incident at about 5.40am, according to Kosmo! Online.

He said initial investigations found that the incident occurred at about 4.34am when a red Proton Saga suddenly struck a pedestrian who was standing in the left lane.

“The vehicle continued driving and did not stop after the incident,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the victim, who suffered serious injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police urged anyone who witnessed the incident or was at the scene to come forward at the nearest police station or contact traffic investigating officer Inspector M. Sivam at 017-3290749 to assist with investigations.

一名 40 多岁的男子在 LDP 高速公路往蒲种方向行驶时，被一辆 Proton Saga 撞倒后逃逸，不幸身亡。

八打灵再也警方于凌晨 5 点 40 分左右接到报案，发现受害者于凌晨 4 点 34 分被撞。

警方根据 1987 年《道路交通法》寻找目击者协助调查。

八打灵再也，9月8日讯——昨天清晨，在白蒲大道（LDP）0.8公里处，一辆宝腾Saga轿车撞倒一名40多岁的当地男子后逃逸身亡。

据 Kosmo! Online 报道，八打灵再也警区主任助理警监沙姆斯丁·马马特表示，警方于早上 5 点 40 分左右接到有关该事件的情报。

他说，初步调查发现，事故发生在凌晨 4 点 34 分左右，当时一辆红色 Proton Saga 突然撞上了一名站在左侧车道上的行人。

“事故发生后，车辆继续行驶，并未停车，”他昨天在一份声明中说。

他说，受害者身受重伤，当场被宣布死亡。

该案件正在根据 1987 年道路运输法第 41(1) 条进行调查。
