Pakatan says no hard feelings after Umno leaves it off 2026 annual assembly guest list

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is not offended by Umno's decision to exclude it from the Umno General Assembly 2026 while inviting the opposition party PAS.

Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar remarked that PH would not pressure Umno for an invitation, as it is their party's decision.

PKR Youth deputy chief Nabil Halimi stated that PH will continue to focus on governance and restructuring the economy, regardless of the exclusion.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) says it has no hard feelings after its ally in the Unity Government, Umno, decided not to invite the coalition to the Umno General Assembly (PAU) 2026, scheduled to take place from Wednesday to Sunday.

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said PH would neither take offence nor pressure Umno into inviting the coalition to the assembly.

However, he questioned why Umno had not invited its Unity Government ally while extending an invitation to PAS, which is an opposition party.

“I also do not know what its (Umno’s) intention is, what is in its heart, you know, it did not invite us because it is their assembly, so the invitation is up to them, whether they want to invite us or not. I do not know why they did not invite PH and why they invited others (PAS).

“I also do not want to force them to explain this matter to us and so on. That is up to them. It is their party’s affair,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia .

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi previously said PH was not invited to PAU 2026 and that even if an invitation had been extended, he expected the coalition would not send a representative this time.

He said PAS was invited in return for the invitation extended to Umno to attend the 72nd PAS Muktamar in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, last weekend.

Mahfuz said PH would meanwhile continue making early preparations for various possibilities, including cooperation in the Melaka state election and the 16th General Election.

“We have also been prepared from the beginning to cooperate and so on, but if they feel they no longer need cooperation with PH, that is up to them and what they choose to do.

“They cannot be in the same house, but at the same time be friends with those who want to tear the house down,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKR Youth deputy chief Nabil Halimi said PKR respected Umno’s decision not to invite PH to PAU 2026.

He said PKR and PH would continue to focus on governing the country until the end of the term while maintaining efforts to restructure Malaysia’s economy.

“We have no issue if we are invited, and the decision on whether to attend would be ours, based on the decision of the president (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim).

“But if we are not invited, it is not a problem for us and we do not see it as a sign or any decision indicating a split in the Unity Government,” he said.

He added that PH should not feel slighted despite being left off the guest list while an opposition party had been invited to the assembly.

“We do not need to feel hurt by whatever happens because this is a political party conference.

“It is a platform for any political party to discuss the future of their party and Umno’s future, and it is not PKR’s decision to make,” he said.

吉隆坡，9月8日讯——希望联盟（PH）表示，对于其在团结政府中的盟友巫统决定不邀请该联盟参加定于周三至周日举行的2026年巫统大会（PAU），该联盟并无怨恨。

诚信党副主席拿督马夫兹奥玛表示，希盟不会生气，也不会向巫统施压，要求其邀请联盟参加集会。

然而，他质疑巫统为何没有邀请其团结政府盟友，却向反对党伊斯兰党发出了邀请。

“我也不知道巫统的意图是什么，他们心里是怎么想的。你知道，他们没有邀请我们，因为这是他们的大会，所以邀请与否取决于他们，他们想邀请我们还是不邀请我们。我不知道他们为什么没有邀请希望联盟，却邀请了其他政党（伊斯兰党）。”

据《马来西亚前锋报》报道，他表示：“我也不想强迫他们向我们解释此事等等。那是他们的事，是他们党内的事情。”

巫统主席拿督斯里阿末扎希哈米迪此前表示，希望联盟没有受邀参加2026年人民联盟大会，即使发出邀请，他也预计该联盟这次不会派代表参加。

他说，作为对巫统上周末在吉兰丹州哥打巴鲁举行的第72届伊斯兰党大会的回礼，伊斯兰党也受邀参加了大会。

马福兹表示，希望联盟将继续为各种可能性做好早期准备，包括在马六甲州选举和第16届全国大选中进行合作。

“我们从一开始就做好了合作的准备等等，但如果他们觉得不再需要与PH合作，那是他们自己的选择。

“他们不可能住在同一屋檐下，却同时与那些想要拆掉房子的人做朋友，”他说。

与此同时，人民公正党青年团副团长纳比勒·哈利米表示，人民公正党尊重巫统不邀请希望联盟参加2026年人民联盟大会的决定。

他表示，人民公正党和希望联盟将继续专注于治理国家直至任期结束，同时继续努力重组马来西亚的经济。

“如果我们受到邀请，我们没有问题，是否出席将由我们自己决定，取决于总统（拿督斯里安华·易卜拉欣）的决定。”

“但如果我们没有被邀请，这对我们来说不是问题，我们也不认为这是联合政府分裂的迹象或决定，”他说。

他还补充说，尽管反对党被邀请参加大会，而希望联盟却被排除在嘉宾名单之外，因此希望联盟不应该感到被轻视。

“无论发生什么，我们都不必感到受伤，因为这是一场政党大会。”

他说：“这是一个供任何政党讨论本党未来和巫统未来的平台，这不是人民公正党可以决定的。”
