Some passengers departing from Changi Airport on Monday (Nov 2) morning were unable to use the self-service kiosks to check in for their flight.

Instead, queues formed at the counters of several airlines, where staff manually checked them in, including issuing boarding passes.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) said in response to AsiaOne's queries that the kiosk outage was due to a "global disruption" of Advanced Passenger Processing systems, reported at about 8.30am.

Advanced Passenger Processing collects and validates a traveller's immigration information and authorisation at the point of exit.

CAG said other airports were similarly affected by the system disruption.

"During this period, Changi Airport ground staff assisted airlines and passengers on the ground," a spokesperson added.

Check-in processes for all affected airlines at Changi Airport returned to normal at around 11am.

The carriers affected by the outage include Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Scoot and Xiamen Airlines, reported The Straits Times.

A queue of 50-odd Xiamen Airlines passengers formed at Terminal 1 after 12.45pm, with a family reportedly waiting over 30 minutes to check in at the counter.

Meanwhile, a Scoot passenger surnamed Peng told 8world that the kiosk had printed a paper slip instructing her to manually check in at the counter.

She said she waited for about 10 to 15 minutes at the counter but was satisfied with the staff's assistance.

Scoot told 8world it experienced a 45-minute disruption to check-in services at Terminal 1 on Monday morning and deployed additional staff during that period.
