拉马南:社险机构将向28名尼泊尔-西藏洪灾受害者家庭支付17.4万令吉的抚恤金

In response to the flood tragedy in the Nepal-Tibet region on August 26, Malaysia's Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R.

Ramanan announced that 28 of the 54 victims met Social Security Organisation (Socso) eligibility criteria, enabling their families to receive benefits.

A total of RM174,000 has been disbursed, including RM3,000 in immediate aid and a Survivors' Pension under the Invalidity Scheme.

Socso, ensuring no family is overlooked, is also coordinating additional support through the Social Synergy Programme.

Ramanan emphasized the government's commitment to supporting families affected by the tragedy.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Twenty-eight out of the 54 victims of the flood tragedy in the Nepal-Tibet region on August 26 met the contribution eligibility requirements of Social Security Organisation (Socso), thereby entitling their next-of-kin to receive benefits.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the total payout, amounting to RM174,000, includes an immediate financial aid of RM3,000 as well as a Survivors’ Pension under the Invalidity Scheme, which has been disbursed to the families of the affected victims.

“Today, 16 families (out of the 28 eligible families) are present. I understand that, to this day, these families continue to face uncertainty regarding the fate of their loved ones. I am well aware that no form of assistance can truly alleviate such deep anxiety.

“Nevertheless, on behalf of the government, I do not want these families especially those who have lost their primary breadwinner to bear this burden alone. Therefore, the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma), through Socso, has strived to ensure that the eligible next-of-kin receive appropriate protection and support,” he said.

He made these remarks during a press conference held today at the PERKESO Tower in Kuala Lumpur, regarding the disbursement of Socso benefits to the victims of the Nepal floods. Also present were Socso board chairman Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal and Socso group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr. Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.

Ramanan noted that Socso has conducted a thorough review to ensure that no eligible next-of-kin is overlooked or excluded from receiving the necessary protection.

“The pension disbursement process will be carried out as soon as all relevant information and documentation are complete. For victims who do not have a record of Socso contributions, please know that we remain deeply concerned and attentive to the plight of your families.”

“Through the Social Synergy Programme, Socso will help connect affected families with 990 strategic partners including 130 agencies nationwide to identify other suitable forms of assistance to help ease their burden,” he said. — Bernama
