Selangor expects to surpass RM100 billion in investments by year-end, having already reached RM70 billion by mid-year, according to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The state's strong investment performance is attributed to active overseas missions and new industrial developments, including the NCT Smart Industrial Park and a third port on Carey Island.

The NCT Smart Industrial Park, part of the IDRISS masterplan, aims to significantly boost South Selangor's socio-economic and industrial growth, with over 200 factories expected to operate there.

SEPANG, Sept 8 — Selangor is confident that the value of investments recorded by the state this year will exceed RM100 billion based on the current positive momentum, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the state recorded about RM70 billion in investments up to mid-year, with the investment trend very encouraging.

“We set a target of RM80 billion, similar to the achievement in 2025, but by mid-2026, we had reached RM70 billion.

“Following this trend, we strongly believe we will be able to exceed the RM80 billion target. In fact, if the trend is very good, we are confident we can create a record of more than RM100 billion,” he said in a press conference after the delivery of vacant possession (VP) ceremony for the NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP) here today.

Amirudin said Selangor’s strong investment performance was also driven by the state government’s strategy of consistently carrying out investment missions abroad, including to France, Germany, Saudi Arabia and South Korea, showing that efforts to attract investment were being made extensively.

He said the development of new industrial areas, including NSIP in Sepang, as well as the development of a third port on Carey Island, is expected to continue to boost investment activities in Selangor.

“If the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) operates as scheduled at the end of this year and so on, I think this will all be exciting in several northern areas (and Selangor),” he said.

Regarding NSIP, Amirudin said more than 200 factories are expected to start operating after obtaining approvals, with most companies currently involved being local enterprises.

“This area is part of the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS), which was included in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), as I mentioned.

“RS-1 is not just planning on paper, but the delivery (project) that we have made, and we feel very proud as it is not just a government project, but an initiative from a private company that also received assistance and support from the state government,” he said.

NSIP, which has received several recognitions, covers approximately 368.26 hectares of prime land with a total gross development value of RM10.2 billion.

As the inaugural development under the IDRISS masterplan, NSIP remains a major contributor to the development of South Selangor as a strategic industrial corridor for high-impact investments and is well positioned to accelerate socio-economic and industrial growth across the region. — Bernama
