Seven foreigners held, RM1.08m in drugs seized in Bukit Mertajam raids

Police in Bukit Mertajam arrested seven foreigners and seized MDMA and ketamine worth RM1.08 million during raids on two premises.

Two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, and none had prior criminal records.

The suspects are remanded for seven days while police investigate the drug syndicate's distribution network.

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Nov 5 — Police arrested seven foreigners and seized suspected methylenedioxy methamphetamine (MDMA) powder and ketamine worth RM1.08 million during raids on two premises in Bukit Tengah here on Nov 1.

Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district police chief ACP Nik Aminuddin Raja Abdullah said a team from the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division raided the premises at 12.50 am following surveillance and intelligence gathering.

“Police arrested six men and a woman, all aged between 25 and 38. Inspections of both premises uncovered MDMA powder and ketamine valued at an estimated RM1.08 million,” he said in a statement tonight.

Nik Aminuddin said urine screening tests revealed that two of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, while the other five tested negative. None of the suspects had prior criminal or drug-related records.

All suspects have been remanded for seven days from Nov 1 to 7 to assist in investigations under Section 39B, Section 12(3), and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

威中警区主任尼克·阿明努丁·拉惹·阿卜杜拉助理警监表示，该警区毒品犯罪调查科的一个小组在经过监视和情报收集后，于凌晨 12 点 50 分突袭了该处房产。

“警方逮捕了六名男子和一名女子，年龄都在25岁至38岁之间。对两处住所的检查发现了价值约108万令吉的摇头丸粉末和氯胺酮，”他今晚在一份声明中说。

尼克·阿明努丁表示，尿检结果显示，两名嫌疑人甲基苯丙胺检测呈阳性，其余五人检测结果呈阴性。所有嫌疑人此前均无犯罪或涉毒记录。

所有嫌疑人均已于 11 月 1 日至 7 日被还押七天，以协助根据 1952 年危险药物法令第 39B 条、第 12(3) 条和第 15(1)(a) 条进行调查。
