The Penang State Legislative Assembly has completed RM1.5 million worth of infrastructure improvements at its building, coinciding with the Second Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Assembly.

Enhancements include a new lactation room, upgraded staff areas for added privacy, and the rebranding of the State Assembly Building Gallery as "Warisan Visual Terukir" to honor past assemblymen.

Additionally, new facilities such as a Special Officers' Room and a renovated meeting room have been introduced to accommodate more attendees and provide better support for media coverage, with further upgrades planned post-meeting.

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 5 — The Penang State Legislative Assembly has implemented several infrastructure improvements and upgrading works at its building here, involving a cost of RM1.5 million.

This was undertaken in conjunction with the Second Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Penang State Legislative Assembly.

Its Speaker, Datuk Seri Law Choo Kiang, said the works involved improvements to both the interior and exterior of the building, including a comprehensive structural inspection through a dilapidation report and roof maintenance.

He said among the new facilities provided was a dedicated lactation room for breastfeeding mothers, in addition to improvements to the staff rest area to provide a more comfortable environment with greater privacy.

“In addition, the State Assembly Building Gallery has been rebranded as ‘Warisan Visual Terukir’ (Engraved Visual Heritage) to showcase the history and contributions of Penang State Assemblymen who have served from 1959 to 2026,” he said in a statement today.

He said the upgrading efforts also included the provision of a Special Officers’ Room equipped with workspaces, printing facilities and audio-visual equipment, as well as improvements to the State Assembly Meeting Room, which can now accommodate up to 25 people at any one time.

Law said the special media conference area had also been upgraded to provide greater comfort for media practitioners covering the assembly sitting.

The upgrading works will continue after the sitting concludes, including improvements to the disabled-friendly toilet near the guardhouse and the renovation of the general storeroom to ensure that equipment used during assembly sittings can be stored in a more orderly and organised manner. — Bernama
