Singapore's 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) is expected to remain in the moderate to low unhealthy range, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in its daily update on Tuesday (Sept 8) evening.
Air quality in Singapore remained in the moderate range for a third consecutive day on Tuesday, continuing an improved trend recorded since 9pm on Saturday.
The 24-hour PSI readings for all regions in the Republic have remained in the moderate range at 6pm.
However, the 1-hour PM2.5 readings are currently elevated in the central and western regions. This has been the case since 3pm and 5pm respectively.
Explaining the situation, NEA said that moderate to dense smoke plumes continue to be observed from the fires in southern and central Sumatra and Kalimantan.
In addition, some smoke haze have also drifted towards Singapore from isolated nearby fires.
These, along with expected dry conditions means there remains a risk of smoke haze, NEA said.
It forecast the 24-hour PSI for Singapore to be in the moderate to low unhealthy range.
Members of the public should note that the health impact of haze is dependent on one's health status, the PSI level, and the length and intensity of outdoor activity.
Those who are planning to conduct or participate in outdoor activities immediately can check the 1-hour PM2.5 concentration readings and vulnerable persons guide.
Meanwhile, those who are planning outdoor activities for the next day should use the 24-hour PSI forecast and the corresponding health advisories for planning.
