Masked armed men flee with RM2.9m in cash, luxury goods from Ampang residence

Kuala Lumpur police are intensifying their search for a group of masked and armed men responsible for stealing approximately RM2.91 million in cash and luxury items from a residence in Jalan Ampang.

The robbery occurred between 2 pm and 3 pm, with the victim, a 28-year-old Chinese national, filing a report at 5:31 pm.

Initial investigations reveal the suspects, equipped with knives, damaged the victim's phone and took his passport.

Authorities are urging public assistance and continue to investigate under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 —Police are intensifying efforts to track down a group of masked and armed men believed to have fled with cash and luxury goods worth an estimated RM2.91 million from a luxury residence in Jalan Ampang here yesterday.

Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Annas Sulaiman said the incident was believed to have occurred between 2 pm and 3 pm at a residential unit in Pavilion Embassy, before the victim, a 28-year-old Chinese national, lodged a police report at 5.31 pm.

He said initial investigations found that several masked men wearing gloves and armed with knives had broken into the house.

“The suspects fled with cash, jewellery and luxury watches, with the losses estimated at RM2.91 million.

“They also damaged the victim’s mobile phone and took his passport,” he said in a statement.

Annas said the victim did not suffer any serious injuries, adding that the case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.

“Members of the public with any information about the incident are urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters operations centre at 03-9289 9222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or any nearby police station,” he said. — Bernama
