Australian dollar pauses after blistering rally, rate support intact

SYDNEY: The Australian dollar took a breather from its recent rally on Wednesday as a widening war in the Gulf weighed on risk sentiment, though hawkish central bank messaging added to the case for an imminent rate hike.

The Aussie was steady at $0.7220, after hitting a four-month peak of $0.7231 overnight before running into some resistance. Having rallied more than 5% from its June low, it is closing in on the May peak of $0.7277 and a mid-2022 high of $0.7285.

悉尼：周三，澳元从近期的上涨势头中回落，海湾地区战争的扩大令市场风险情绪承压，不过央行鹰派的言论也增加了市场对即将加息的预期。

澳元兑美元汇率稳定在0.7220美元，此前隔夜一度触及四个月高点0.7231美元，随后遭遇阻力。澳元兑美元已从6月低点反弹超过5%，目前正逼近5月高点0.7277美元和2022年年中高点0.7285美元。
