34,700 EV charging points now available in Singapore as EV population hits 82,100: LTA

Over the past four months, the Republic has added over 4,000 new electric vehicle (EV) charging points, bringing the total number to 34,700, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on World EV Day (Sept 9).

This, as the EV population reached 82,100-mark in August — up from the 57,200 in 2025.

In the first eight months of 2026, EVs made up 63 per cent of new car registrations, up from 45 per cent last year, data from LTA showed.

In a parliamentary reply on May 6, Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling said in a reply to Choa Chu Kang GRC MP Dr Choo Pei Ling that that more than 30,500 of the planned 60,000 charging points — 40,000 charging points in public carparks and 20,000 in private premises — have been completed.

She added that LTA monitors EV adoption rates closely and coordinates with agencies such as the Energy Market Authority, Housing and Development Board and JTC to deploy EV chargers and key supporting infrastructure.

There are also plans to ensure that every HDB town will have at least one fast charging hub by the end of 2027.

Such hubs will have at least six or eight 50kW charging points, which are expected to add around 100km of operating range to most EV models after charging for about 30 minutes.

From Jan 1 next year, the EV early adoption incentive, which provides an Additional Registration Fee rebate off newly-registered cars and taxis, will cease.

It is currently capped at $7,500.

截至 8 月，电动汽车保有量达到 82,100 辆，高于 2025 年的 57,200 辆。

陆路交通管理局的数据显示，2026 年前八个月，电动汽车占新车注册量的 63%，高于去年的 45%。

5月6日，交通部高级政务部长孙雪玲在国会答复蔡厝港集选区议员朱佩玲博士的质询时表示，计划建设的6万个充电桩中，已有超过3.05万个完成建设，其中4万个位于公共停车场，2万个位于私人场所。

她补充说，陆路交通管理局密切关注电动汽车的普及率，并与能源市场管理局、建屋发展局和裕廊集团等机构协调，部署电动汽车充电桩和关键配套基础设施。

此外，还有计划确保到 2027 年底，每个组屋区至少拥有一个快速充电站。

此类充电站将至少配备六到八个 50kW 充电桩，预计充电约 30 分钟后，可为大多数电动汽车增加约 100 公里的续航里程。

从明年1月1日起，电动汽车早期采用激励措施（即对新注册的汽车和出租车提供额外注册费返还）将停止实施。

目前上限为 7,500 美元。
