MOH still awaiting official post-mortem report on five Long Lellang crash victims

The Malaysian Ministry of Health is awaiting the official post-mortem reports for the five victims of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Sarawak.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that further public details would be provided once official confirmations are received.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah has outlined the post-mortem procedures, confirming the successful recovery and transfer of the bodies to Miri for examination.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) is still awaiting the official report on the post-mortem findings of the five victims who were killed in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad said the ministry was still awaiting official confirmation on the matter before providing further details to the public.

“As soon as we get everything officially, Datuk DG (Health director-general) will provide an explanation.

“Although we have heard about it, we have yet to receive anything official,” he told reporters at a press conference after the opening ceremony of the 17th Asean Health Ministers’ Meeting (AHMM) here today.

Also present were MOH secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad and Health director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar Abdul Wahab.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahathar said the Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah had explained the procedures and processes related to the post-mortems in a statement yesterday, but the ministry was still awaiting a further announcement on the matter.

Yesterday, Mohamad Zainal confirmed that the five bodies of the victims killed in the helicopter crash had been successfully recovered from the crash site and flown from Long Lellang to Miri for post-mortems and related procedures. — Bernama
