Man subdued by police officers at Tiong Bahru Plaza found with vape, was wanted for drug-related offences

A 32-year-old man wanted for drug-related offences was arrested after he resisted police during a routine check near Tiong Bahru Plaza on Monday (Sept 7) night.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm near 302 Tiong Bahru Road.

A video posted on Xiaohongshu showed two police officers attempting to restrain a man dressed in black near the McDonald's outlet at the mall.

The man appeared to resist as the officers tried to subdue him, while members of the public gathered nearby and some filmed the incident on their phones.

The police confirmed to AsiaOne that officers were patrolling at 302 Tiong Bahru Road at about 8.30pm when they approached the man for a routine check.

He was found to be wanted for drug-related offences.

The man resisted arrest, prompting officers to use necessary force to restrain him, police said.

Officers also found a vaporiser in his possession.

The vaporiser-related offence has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigations, while the drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.

Investigations are ongoing.
