SEOUL, Sept. 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's exports surged nearly 83 percent on-year in the first 10 days of September, customs data showed Friday, driven by robust semiconductor shipments amid the global artificial intelligence (AI) boom.

Outbound shipments reached US$35 billion in the Sept. 1-10 period, according to the numbers released by the Korea Customs Service.

The customs agency said exports reached the highest level for the first 10 days of September on record.

Imports rose 20.7 percent on-year to $24.6 billion over the cited period, resulting in a trade surplus of $10.4 billion.

Semiconductors led the overall gains, soaring 270 percent to $16.5 billion, also setting a fresh high for the period.

Outbound shipments of petroleum products jumped 57 percent to $1.87 billion, while automobile exports increased 10 percent to $1.7 billion.

Exports of ships and steel products also shot up 66.8 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively, the report showed.

By destination, exports to China doubled to $7.95 billion, while those to the United States increased 137.5 percent to $7 billion.

The country's total exports from Jan. 1 through Thursday came to $728.5 billion, climbing 54.1 percent from a year earlier. The trade surplus reached $212.9 billion so far in 2026.

根据韩国海关总署公布的数据，9月1日至10日期间，韩国出境货物总额达到350亿美元。

海关部门表示，9 月份前 10 天的出口额达到了有记录以来的最高水平。

报告期内，进口额同比增长 20.7%，达到 246 亿美元，贸易顺差为 104 亿美元。

半导体行业领涨整体市场，飙升 270% 至 165 亿美元，也创下了该时期的新高。

石油产品出口额增长 57%，达到 18.7 亿美元；汽车出口额增长 10%，达到 17 亿美元。

报告显示，船舶和钢铁产品的出口也分别飙升了 66.8% 和 10.3%。

按目的地划分，对中国的出口额翻了一番，达到 79.5 亿美元；对美国的出口额增长了 137.5%，达到 70 亿美元。

该国1月1日至周四的出口总额达7285亿美元，同比增长54.1%。2026年迄今为止，贸易顺差已达2129亿美元。
