DNA results of Long Lellang crash victims finally in, families set to receive remains

The DNA test results for the victims of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Baram have been finalized, allowing the remains to be returned to their families, as confirmed by Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.

Following completion of the necessary documentation, funeral arrangements are underway, with services scheduled for the deceased including medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, who will be laid to rest after a service at Good Shepherd Church in Lutong.

The crash, which occurred near the Long Lellang STOLport runway on September 8, claimed the lives of all five individuals on board.

MIRI, Sept 12 — The DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) test results for the five victims of the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang in Baram have been obtained, and the remains will be handed over to the next of kin today, said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.

“Today, once the documentation is completed, the remains will be handed over to the families,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements are under way for three of the five victims, as their families prepare to bid their final farewells.

Medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry will be laid to rest at the Anglican Cemetery in Lambir following a funeral service at the Good Shepherd Church in Lutong at 9 am on Sept 15.

His sister, Annastasia Luyah, said in a funeral notice shared on her Facebook last night that a wake will be held on Sept 14 at their family residence at Taman Desa Senadin here.

The wake for staff nurse Jessie Paya Jok will be held at Taman Wang Lusut while the body of staff nurse Debra Moset will be brought home to Kampung Semadang in Padawan, Kuching, for a wake service. The burial dates have yet to be announced.

All five people on board the BO-105 helicopter operated by Layang-Layang Aerospace were killed after it crashed near the end of the Long Lellang STOLport runway at about 3.40 pm on Sept 8.

The other two who lost their lives were medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin and pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham.

Dr Ainul is expected to be laid to rest at the Sri Kedeper Muslim Cemetery in Kelantan, while Captain Zainol will be brought home to Negeri Sembilan for burial.

Yesterday Mohamad Zainal said post-mortem examinations on all five victims were completed at the Forensic Department of Miri Hospital on Thursday night and the DNA analysis was expected to be completed today. — Bernama

护士杰西·帕亚·乔克的遗体告别仪式将在旺鲁苏花园举行，而护士黛布拉·莫塞特的遗体将被运回古晋巴达旺的甘榜瑟马当，举行守灵仪式。葬礼日期尚未公布。

9 月 8 日下午 3 点 40 分左右，拉央拉央航空运营的一架 BO-105 直升机在龙乐浪短距起降机场跑道尽头附近坠毁，机上五人全部遇难。

另外两名遇难者是医务官艾努尔·巴拉·卡马鲁丁博士和飞行员扎伊诺尔·阿菲克·比·沙姆上尉。

预计艾努尔博士将被安葬在吉兰丹州的斯里凯德珀穆斯林公墓，而扎伊诺尔上尉将被运回森美兰州安葬。

昨天，莫哈末·扎伊纳尔表示，五名遇难者的尸检已于周四晚在美里医院法医部门完成，DNA分析预计将于今天完成。——马新社
