Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will make an official visit to Malaysia next month to discuss Malaysia-Egypt relations.
This announcement follows Anwar's meeting with El-Sisi at the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit.
The visit aims to elevate their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Following the summit, Anwar will proceed with a working visit to Keralam in India and then to the Maldives.
NEW DELHI, Sept 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is scheduled to make an official visit to Malaysia next month.
“Insya-Allah, several matters concerning Malaysia-Egypt relations will be discussed in greater depth during President El-Sisi’s official visit to Malaysia next month,” he said in a post on his social media today.
No further details on the visit were provided in the post.
El-Sisi was among the leaders Anwar met on the sidelines of a gala dinner held in conjunction with the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit here yesterday.
In 2024, Malaysia and Egypt agreed to work towards elevating bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Anwar arrived here yesterday to attend the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit, which concludes today.
The Prime Minister will continue his working visit to Keralam (officially renamed from Kerala), a state on the Malabar Coast of southern India.
This is Anwar’s second official visit to India, following his inaugural trip as Prime Minister in August 2024.
