Car rear-ends bus in Middle Road, man arrested for driving under the influence of drugs

A man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs after a car rear-ended a bus along Middle Road in the Bugis area on Saturday (Sept 12).

In photos uploaded to social media, a black Mercedes can be seen crashed into the back of a bus service 56 on the road.

The photos also showed a person with a bandaged head, as well as a vape that was found on a seat in the car.

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police confirmed that it was alerted to a road accident involving a bus, a car, and a power-assisted bicycle (PAB) along Middle Road towards Sophia Road at about 6.45pm on Saturday.

A 32-year-old male PAB rider and a 65-year-old female bus passenger were conveyed conscious to the hospital, it said.

It also added that a 31-year-old male car driver sustained minor injuries and refused conveyance to the hospital.

However, he was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

"A vaporiser found in his possession was seized, and the vaporiser-related offence has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority," the police said.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told AsiaOne that they conveyed two persons to Raffles Hospital. Another six persons were assessed for minor injuries but declined to be sent to the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

从上传到社交媒体的照片中可以看到，一辆黑色奔驰撞上了路上行驶的56路公交车的尾部。

照片还显示，一名头部缠着绷带的人，以及在车内座位上发现的一个电子烟。

针对 AsiaOne 的询问，警方证实，周六下午 6 点 45 分左右，警方接到报警称，在通往索菲亚路的中路发生了一起涉及一辆巴士、一辆汽车和一辆电动辅助自行车 (PAB) 的交通事故。

报道称，一名 32 岁的 PAB 男性乘客和一名 65 岁的女性公交车乘客被送往医院时意识清醒。

声明还补充说，一名 31 岁的男性汽车司机受了轻伤，但他拒绝被送往医院。

然而，他随后因吸毒后驾驶而被捕。

警方表示：“在其身上搜出的电子烟已被查获，与电子烟相关的违法行为已移交卫生科学局处理。”

新加坡民防部队告诉亚洲新闻网，他们将两人送往莱佛士医院。另有六人因轻伤接受了评估，但拒绝被送往医院。

警方调查仍在进行中。
