In India, Anwar calls on Muslim scholars to master AI while safeguarding Islamic faith and moral values

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised the need for the Muslim world to adopt AI while maintaining faith, moral values and Islamic heritage.

He highlighted that understanding AI is crucial to prevent Muslim societies from being influenced by external forces and that technology should align with faith.

Anwar acknowledged the historical ties between Keralam and the Malay world and expressed appreciation for the cooperation during his visit.

KERALAM (INDIA), Sept 14 — The Muslim world must embrace artificial intelligence (AI) and new technologies while ensuring that faith, moral values and Islamic heritage remain firmly preserved, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking before around 2,000 attendees, including Islamic scholars and students, Anwar said Muslim scholars and societies could not afford to remain detached from the rapid development of AI and modern technology, as a lack of knowledge and understanding could leave them vulnerable to external influences.

“Without knowledge, we will fail. Without understanding AI, we will be colonised and will just become weapons, weaponised by the foreign forces to weaken our resolve,” he said in his speech at the “Gathering of Honour for the Prime Minister of Malaysia” event at Markazu Saquafathi Sunniya, also known as Jamia Markaz, in Calicut here last night.

He said the challenge facing Muslim societies was not merely to acquire knowledge and expertise in AI, but also to ensure that technological advancement was guided by faith and moral values.

The Prime Minister said this was particularly important as technology was not value-neutral and could influence the values, ethics and beliefs of society if not approached carefully.

Anwar also stressed the importance of preserving the turath (Islamic scholarly heritage), saying the Muslim world should not lose sight of the Quran, Sunnah and works of prominent Islamic scholars while embracing new knowledge and technology.

The Prime Minister said Islamic heritage demonstrated the importance of tolerance, wisdom and constructive engagement, including in relations between Muslims and followers of other faiths.

He pointed out that the Malaysia Madani approach was rooted in the values of humanity, respect and friendship among people of different races and religions, while remaining firmly grounded in the country’s Islamic faith and moral framework.

On his visit to Keralam, Anwar said the state had deep historical ties with the Malay world, and had played an important role in the spread of Islam and Islamic scholarship across the Malay Archipelago, including Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and the southern Philippines.

He also expressed appreciation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating his visit to Keralam, which was made in conjunction with his official visit to India to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Anwar said he also looked forward to meeting Keralam Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan and members of the state Cabinet to discuss ways to further strengthen relations between Malaysia and Keralam.

He also expressed appreciation to the Keralam state authorities, security personnel, officials and others involved in facilitating his visit to Jamia Markaz, saying their cooperation, including that of non-Muslims, demonstrated the importance of mutual respect and working together towards a common objective.

Earlier, Anwar received the inaugural Sheikh Abu Bakar Foundation Excellence Award in recognition of his more than five decades of public service and contributions to education, Islamic scholarship, institutional development, international dialogue and human well-being. — Bernama

马来西亚首相拿督斯里安华·易卜拉欣强调，穆斯林世界需要在保持信仰、道德价值观和伊斯兰传统的同时，采用人工智能技术。

他强调，了解人工智能对于防止穆斯林社会受到外部势力影响至关重要，而且技术应该与信仰保持一致。

安华在访问期间肯定了喀拉拉邦与马来世界之间的历史联系，并对双方的合作表示感谢。

安瓦尔在约 2000 名与会者（包括伊斯兰学者和学生）面前发表讲话时表示，穆斯林学者和社会不能脱离人工智能和现代技术的快速发展，因为缺乏知识和理解可能会使他们容易受到外部影响。

“没有知识，我们就会失败。如果不了解人工智能，我们将被殖民，最终沦为武器，被外国势力利用来削弱我们的决心。”他昨晚在卡利卡特的 Markazu Saquafathi Sunniya（又名 Jamia Markaz）举行的“马来西亚总理荣誉聚会”活动上发表讲话时说道。

他表示，穆斯林社会面临的挑战不仅是获得人工智能方面的知识和专业技能，还要确保技术进步受到信仰和道德价值观的指导。

首相表示，这一点尤为重要，因为技术并非价值中立，如果不谨慎对待，可能会影响社会的价值观、道德观和信仰。

安瓦尔还强调了保护伊斯兰学术遗产的重要性，他说，穆斯林世界在拥抱新知识和技术的同时，不应忽视《古兰经》、圣训和著名伊斯兰学者的著作。

首相表示，伊斯兰传统体现了宽容、智慧和建设性互动的重要性，包括在穆斯林与其他信仰者之间的关系中。

他指出，马来西亚的“马达尼”方针植根于不同种族和宗教人民之间的人道主义、尊重和友谊的价值观，同时又牢牢扎根于该国的伊斯兰信仰和道德框架。

安华在访问喀拉拉邦时表示，该邦与马来世界有着深厚的历史渊源，并在伊斯兰教和伊斯兰学术在马来群岛（包括新加坡、文莱、印度尼西亚和菲律宾南部）的传播中发挥了重要作用。

他还对印度总理纳伦德拉·莫迪为他访问喀拉拉邦提供便利表示感谢。此次访问是他正式访问印度、出席在新德里举行的第十八届金砖国家峰会的一部分。

安华表示，他也期待与喀拉拉邦首席部长维迪·萨提桑和州内阁成员会面，讨论如何进一步加强马来西亚和喀拉拉邦之间的关系。

他还对喀拉拉邦政府、安保人员、官员以及其他参与协助他访问贾米亚·马克兹的人员表示感谢，称他们的合作，包括非穆斯林的合作，体现了相互尊重和为共同目标而共同努力的重要性。

此前，安华荣获首届谢赫·阿布·巴卡尔基金会卓越奖，以表彰他五十多年来在公共服务领域以及对教育、伊斯兰学术、机构发展、国际对话和人类福祉所作出的贡献。——马新社
