Minister Hannah Yeoh expressed her views on Najib Razak's pardon during the Pardons Board meeting on Sept 11, guided by conscience and national interest.

The final decision on the pardon application rests with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, as per Article 42 of the Federal Constitution.

Questions regarding the deferment of Najib's pardon should be directed to Hannah Yeoh, as she acts in her capacity as Minister responsible for Federal Territories.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 16 —Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said she had expressed her views on former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s pardon application during the Pardons Board meeting on Sept 11, after reviewing the written opinion of the Attorney General.

Hannah, who is a member of the Pardons Board, said she had expressed her views honestly and candidly, guided by her conscience and in the national interest.

“I expressed my views honestly and candidly, guided by my conscience and in the country’s interest,” she said in a statement here today.

The statement was issued in response to remarks by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said regarding the deferment of Najib’s pardon application.

Hannah said she had expressed her views in her capacity as the minister responsible for the Federal Territories.

At the same time, she said that under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, the authority and final decision on the matter rest with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“Certainly, in accordance with Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, the authority and final decision lie with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, including the decision to defer any ruling regarding Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s pardon,” she said.

Yesterday, Azalina was reported as saying that any questions or clarifications regarding the deferment of Najib’s pardon application should be directed to Hannah.

She said although the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) came under her ministry, it merely served as the secretariat for the Pardons Board and she was not the minister responsible for the board.

On Sept 11, the Prime Minister’s Department’s Legal Affairs Division, in a statement, announced that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, consented to defer the decision on Najib’s pardon application to a future meeting of the Pardons Board. — Bernama

根据联邦宪法第 42 条，赦免申请的最终决定权在于最高元首。

有关推迟赦免纳吉的问题，应向杨巧双咨询，因为她是负责联邦直辖区的部长。

布城，9月16日讯——首相署（联邦直辖区）部长杨巧双表示，在审阅了总检察长的书面意见后，她于9月11日在赦免委员会会议上表达了自己对前首相拿督斯里纳吉·拉扎克赦免申请的看法。

身为赦免委员会成员的汉娜表示，她出于良知和国家利益，诚实坦率地表达了自己的观点。

“我秉持良知，以国家利益为重，诚实坦率地表达了自己的观点，”她今天在此发表声明说。

该声明是对首相署（法律及体制改革）部长拿督斯里阿扎丽娜·奥斯曼·赛义德就推迟纳吉赦免申请一事发表的言论的回应。

汉娜表示，她以联邦直辖区事务部长的身份表达了自己的观点。
