SINGAPORE – A 44-year-old man is set to be charged with vandalism after allegedly throwing a rock at a door at the Police Cantonment Complex on Sept 15.
The police said in a statement on Sept 16 that they were alerted to the incident at 10.55pm on Sept 15 .
The man had thrown a rock weighing almost half a kilogram at the glass door of the complex’s main entrance and was immediately arrested, said the police.
Preliminary investigations showed that the man, who was believed to be intoxicated, had thrown the same rock twice , causing the glass door to shatter, the police added.
The rock was seized as a case exhibit.
The man will be charged on Sept 17.
If convicted of vandalism, he could be fined up to $2,000 or jailed for up to three years . He could also get three to eight strokes of the cane.

警方在9月16日发表的声明中表示，他们于9月15日晚上10点55分接到报案。
警方称，该男子向该建筑群正门的玻璃门投掷了一块重达近半公斤的石头，随即被警方逮捕。
初步调查显示，这名男子据信处于醉酒状态，他两次投掷同一块石头，导致玻璃门破碎，警方补充道。
这块石头被作为案件物证扣押。
该男子将于9月17日被起诉。
如果被判犯有破坏公物罪，他可能被处以最高2000美元的罚款或最高三年的监禁，还可能被处以三到八下鞭刑。
