Singapore rolls out passport-scanning arrival card on mobile app from Sept 30

Beginning September 30, travelers entering Singapore can complete the enhanced Singapore Arrival Card through the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority's (ICA) mobile app, which now includes auto-fill functionality via passport scanning and support for 19 languages.

The update, previously only available on the ICA website, is mandatory for all arriving visitors except transit passengers not clearing immigration and those traveling overland through specific checkpoints.

Travelers are advised to update the MyICA app to access these features, which facilitate streamlined immigration processes including generating QR codes for passport-free land checkpoint clearance.

SINGAPORE, Sept 17 — Travellers entering Singapore from Sept 30 will be able to complete the enhanced Singapore Arrival Card directly through the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority’s (ICA) mobile app, the authority announced.

The enhanced digital declaration, which allows travellers to auto-fill information by scanning their passports and offers expanded language options, has previously been accessible only via the ICA website.

In a statement on its official Facebook page yesterday, the authority reminded travellers to update their MyICA mobile app to the latest version before submitting arrival cards from Sept 30 onwards.

The requirement to update also applies to motorists and passengers using the app to generate QR codes for passport-free immigration clearance at Singapore's land checkpoints.

The Singapore Arrival Card is a mandatory electronic health declaration that all incoming visitors must submit prior to arrival.

The requirement applies to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders, but excludes transit passengers who do not seek immigration clearance as well as Singapore residents travelling overland through the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.

First introduced on the web portal in August, the enhanced card is now available in seven additional languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Dutch, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Filipino, and Italian, bringing the total number of supported languages to 19.

Under the updated system, Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders can also scan their passport biometric page to automatically populate their details, supplementing the existing Singpass data retrieval option. The passport-scanning feature was previously restricted to foreign visitors.
