A woman has called out a man who allegedly expected her to give up her seat on the train for his wife.
In a video on Wednesday (Sept 16), TikTok user Clara.slays said she was stunned to see a man take a seat beside her on the MRT while leaving his wife standing and "carrying a lot of things".
The incident took place on the Thomson-East Coast Line at around 4pm on Sept 11, MS News reported.
According to the 31-year-old, she was seated between two empty seats when a couple boarded the train with their young daughter, whom she estimated to be around three or four years old.
The man and his daughter sat on either side of Clara, while his wife remained standing.
As the girl was fidgeting and clinging to her mother, Clara offered to swap seats with her.
She accepted, but kept asking her mother to sit down.
According to Clara, the man remarked: "Mummy got no seat. This auntie is sitting on the seat."
Clara hit back, telling him that his wife should be seated instead of him.
The man then stood up and gestured for his wife to take his seat.
"Chivalry is dead," Clara said in her video.
The TikTok video has garnered 189,300 views as of Friday, with many netizens agreeing with how Clara handled the matter.
One commenter felt that it should be "normalised to call out men like this", while others described the man as "entitled" for wanting Clara to give up her seat to his wife.
