Facial recognition immigration clearance for motorcyclists, pillion riders now operational at Tuas Checkpoint

Motorcyclist and pillion riders can now enjoy a more seamless and secure immigration clearance experience.

In a social media post on Friday (Sept 18) afternoon, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) announced that facial recognition for immigration clearance is now operational at all 80 automated arrival and departure lanes at Tuas Checkpoint.

The use of facial recognition as the primary biometric identifier for immigration clearance was first announced by ICA on March 26.

It began with 18 automated motorcycle lanes at Woodlands Checkpoint's arrival lanes on March 31, and was later rolled out to all 70 automated arrival and departure motorcycle lanes at the checkpoint

In a statement then, ICA had said that this will be extended to Tuas Checkpoint in the third quarter of 2026.

It is available for Singapore residents, long-term pass holders, and foreign visitors who have previously entered the country.

First-time foreign visitors and those re-entering Singapore with a different passport from their previous trip will first have to undergo manual immigration clearance before they are able to use QR code and facial recognition for subsequent trips.

As part of the facial recognition immigration clearance process, motorcyclists and pillion riders will have to present the QR code generated via the MyICA mobile application, or passport.

After verification, they can then enter the lane and will be required to lift up their helmet visor, and remove any sunglass and/or face mask.

Those wearing full face helmets will need to remove them during facial recognition clearance.

首次来新加坡的外国游客以及持与上次旅行不同的护照再次入境新加坡的游客，必须先经过人工入境检查，才能在后续旅行中使用二维码和人脸识别技术。

作为人脸识别入境检查流程的一部分，摩托车驾驶员和乘客必须出示通过 MyICA 移动应用程序生成的二维码或护照。

核实身份后，他们即可进入车道，但需要抬起头盔面罩，并摘下太阳镜和/或口罩。

佩戴全盔的人员在进行面部识别通关时需要摘下头盔。
